本日ご紹介するのは
2013 J.W.Black Guitars JWB-S (Blonde)です。

 

控えめなレリック加工が施されていて全体にウェザーチェック、エルボー部分の塗装の剥がれの感じがリアル。

薄いホワイトブロンドフィニッシュにゴールド・アノダイズド・ピックガードの50’s感がなかなか上品な一本です。

 

このギターを一言で形容するなら「マイルド」。

決してパッとしないという意味ではないですよ。

 

通常アッシュボディー、メイプル指板、アノダイズドガードと聞くとシャッキシャキで煌びやかなトーンを連想すると思います。

 

この一本は軽量ということもあって生鳴りが豊か。その分出音の角が取れてより空気感のある温かい音になります。

確かにローズ指板のものに比べると立ち上がりは早いものの、この楽器のおいしいところはその後から広がっていくサステインです。もはやコンプレッションが掛かっているかのようでぼくは好きです。

 

その上、アノダイズドガードのお陰か高音域のシャリンとした倍音は健在で、コードを弾いてもさっぱりながら旨味たっぷりの音です。

My pick for today is…

2013 J.W.Black Guitars JWB-S (Blonde).

 

Now ain’t this gorgeous.

 

The finish on the 1-piece ash body is lightly reliced with checkings and paint wear on where the elbow sits.

The thin layer of white-blonde and gold anodized pickguard gives this one an elegant looks and a nice ’50s vibe.

 

The one word I would use to describe its tone is “mild”.

But don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean “dull” or “lacking power”.

 

It certainly may not be a powerhouse kind of instrument, but what you may expect from an ash body, maple neck and anodized pickguard Strat is a spanky, gritty single-coil tone.

 

This particular axe is fairly light, and has a good acoustic resonance which rounds out the edges, resulting in a more airy, warm tone.

Because of the maple fretboard, it does have a faster attack compared to rosewood, but the sustain that follows and flourishes is what makes this guitar stand out. It almost sounds compressed, and I like it.

 

In addition, there are nice shimmery harmonics in the treble frequencies thanks to the anodized guard that give your chords a little more harmonic detail.
