本日ご紹介するのは

Gibson Custom Shop Eric Clapton Crossroads ES-335 (Cherry)

 

海外では日曜日はGibsonとSundayを掛け合わせて”ギブサンデー”といって楽しんでいるのをご存知の方も中にはいらっしゃるかと思います。

 

今日のブログに載せる一本を何にしようかな〜と店内を見渡していたら目に飛び込んできたのが今日の一本。

なぜ今まで書かなかったのかと思ったほどです。

 

エリック・クラプトンがクリーム時代に使っていた1964年製のES-335TDCを復刻し限定生産されたこちらの逸品、絶妙なフェイド具合のチェリーフィニッシュとグローバー・ペグがとても貫禄を感じさせます。

 

これだけの仕様なだけあって音も素敵です。

 

ピックアップは出力があまり強くなく、リアは温かくも気持ちよく抜けてくれ、フロントも温かく、またモコモコし過ぎないバランスの良さ、そして奥行きのあるアタックが楽しめます。

 

ブリッジサドルはビンテージ同様のナイロン製。

ぼくは335はこのサドルが好きなんです。

 

微差ではありますが、サステインがさほどない分、アタックがやや丸くなり、温かみが増します。

 

こちらが貴重な一本であることは間違いありません。

Gibson Custom Shop Eric Clapton Crossroads ES-335 (Cherry)

 

Today is Gibsunday right?

 

I was looking around the shop thinking of what to write for today’s post, and boom.

I wondered why I hadn’t written about this one.

 

Based on Clapton’s 1964 ES-335TDC he used heavily during his time with Cream, this one has that killer look with the faded cherry finish and Grover tuners.

 

Sound-wise, the pickups have a fairly low output and a nice vintage-y vibe.

The bridge pickup has a crispy tone that will cut through the mix nicely without being harsh, and the neck pickup has a warm, balanced tone with plenty of depth in the attack.

I don’t mean it’s bassy whatsoever. It’s got a unique three-dimensional airiness that’s pretty hard to put into words, to be honest.

 

The bridge has the old-fashioned nylon saddles like the vintage ones, which I personally love on 335s.

Though you don’t get as much sustain (the difference is pretty subtle), these saddles round out the attack a tiny bit.

 

This thing is a piece of history for sure.
